How to Lose Weight Bodybuilding
Many people assume you need to get rid of those unwanted fatty pounds with cardio or the latest fad diet. However, this is completely unnecessary as it is much easier to lose weight bodybuilding than it would be otherwise. Let me explain…
How your body loses fat
In order to lose fat you must burn more calories than you eat. If you are on a sensible diet and nutritional plan that cuts your caloric intake and you include this as part of a bodybuilding program, you will be burning more calories than you are eating and in turn losing weight as you increase muscle mass.
This is why bodybuilding helps with weight loss. Your metabolism is determined by how your body is able to burn calories and how efficiently your body burns that energy.
Your body is more effective at burning calories the higher your metabolism is. Your metabolic rate is affected not only by your age and gender, but also by your lean body mass.
The more lean muscle your body has, the higher your metabolic rate is. This means that if you follow a bodybuilding program and a healthy diet, your body will burn away those extra pounds and inches because adding muscle mass will increase your metabolic rate.
To attempt to lose weight bodybuilding, and by weight I mean fat, bodybuilding is the natural way to go. As you go through the right sort of bodybuilding program you will be able to see your fat disappear and your muscle mass and/or muscle tone increase.
BMI is Meaningless
Don’t rely on your body mass index (BMI) reading to know if you are within a healthy weight range. As you increase your muscle size and lose fat your BMI will not be a valid indictor of obesity or health.
Muscle is heavy and dense, so as you increase lean muscle mass to your body with a body building program, you may not see a decrease in your weight. However, this does not mean you have not lost fat, it means you are shifting your muscle to fat ratio. You are becoming learner, not lighter.
BMI is a basic calculation that doesn’t tell you much: it’s simply your height divided by your weight multiplied by 703. Therefore, a body builder could have a BMI similar to someone who is obese, but the bodybuilder may be less than 10% body fat. To accurately gauge your body fat you should use fat calipers or specialist body fat analyzer.
Lose Weight Bodybuilding = Permanent Weight Loss
The only real permanent weight loss programs that work over and over again are those centered around a fitness regime, and a bodybuilding program is by far the best way to lose fat. This alone should give you the incentive to start a bodybuilding program.
As your body adapts to a bodybuilding routine you will see your fat and inches begin to disappear. You don’t need to go on strict diets that you can’t stick to, but you do need a good bodybuilding program to help lose weight permanently and feel great about yourself.
