Why Compound Muscle Building Exercises Are So Important
Muscle building is straight forward once you have an appropriate muscle building program, the right attitude and consistency from your side.
For beginners, muscle building should be started by keeping in mind the concept of ‘try and try again’. The muscle gains will certainly appear after some time, so be sure that you don’t give up early on.
Beginners should pay special attention to the constructive strategies for muscle building. A positive approach is certainly necessary for effective muscle building.
A common mistake is that many beginners tend to start with the isolation exercises, but this is not the way to start a new muscle building program.
Beginners should stick to the compound exercises – the ones that increase your overall strength and hit large muscle groups.
The compound exercises tend to focus on a group if muscles, whereas the isolation exercises aim at a particular muscle.
Isolation exercises can also cause injury for a beginner. The individual muscle that is being targeted may not be able to lift a heavy weight initially because the overall muscle group has not been developed sufficiently.
For example, what’s the point in working your biceps in isolation when your arms aren’t used to lifting heavy weights? And what’s the point in trying to develop big biceps when the rest of your arms are skinny and you have just skin and bone on your shoulders?
Isolation exercises are wonderful only when you have built some strength, stamina and adequate muscle mass.
The compound exercises will help you to gain more power in the initial stages. Groups of muscles need to be built up in order to share the excessive loads you will be lifting over time.
After a short while you will feel relaxed while performing intense compound exercises, you will gain strength and muscle building momentum.
Remember that your muscles need appropriate time to regain power. Adequate rest is essential between the workouts as this will enable your muscles to re gain the strength and of course grow.
Your muscles must be fully recuperated before you train them again at your next workout.
Effective compound exercises such as squats and bench presses are certainly the main exercises for the initial muscle builders.
So, if you are new to muscle building, plan your muscle building program around the main compound exercises and you will get a big head start over the newcomers who’ll be spending hours working on their biceps!
